1) The transmission system for the Gheco-One <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>t Project was<br />

completed and connected to the grid system since February 11, 2013.<br />

2) The transmission system for the Gulf JP UT Co., Ltd. was completed<br />

and connected to the grid system since August 28, 2014.<br />

3) The transmission system for the Gulf JP NS Co., Ltd. will be<br />

completed in June <strong>2015</strong>.<br />

4) The transmission system for the National <strong>Power</strong> Supply Co., Ltd. is<br />

currently not commenced.<br />

6.4.3 Main Transmission System Expansion Project for <strong>Power</strong><br />

Purchase from SPP Cogeneration <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>t, based on Request<br />

for Proposal 2010<br />

The transmission system project aims to accommodate the increasing<br />

power purchase of 3,500 MW from SPP’s cogeneration power plants with the resolution<br />

of the National Energy Policy Council (NEPC) on November 25, 2010 to strengthen the<br />

stability of the power system and reduce the system losses of both transmission and<br />

distribution network. The project involves the construction of new 230 kV transmission<br />

lines between Ayutthaya 4 and Si Khiu 2 Substations, the renovation of related<br />

transmission lines with the distance of 507.85 circuit-kilometers, a new substation, the<br />

installation of 2,900 MVA transformers, and the improvement of relevant transmission<br />

systems. It was approved by the cabinet on October 18, 2011 and planned to be<br />

completed in December 2017.<br />

6.4.4 Transmission System <strong>Development</strong> for <strong>Power</strong> Purchase from<br />

Nam Ngum 3 and Nam Theun 1 Hydropower <strong>Plan</strong>t Project<br />

The transmission system project aims to accommodate the power<br />

purchase from Nam Ngum 3 and Nam Theun 1 Hydropower <strong>Plan</strong>t Projects and/or other<br />

potential projects in Lao PDR such as Nam Ngiep 1 Hydropower Project and Xayaburi<br />

Hydropower Project. The project comprises: 1) The construction of new 500 kV<br />

transmission lines Nam Phong 2 – Chaiyaphum 2 - Tha Tako connected with the existing<br />

Ban Na Bong (Lao PDR) – Udon Thani 3 – Nam Phong 2 lines (currently operating at 230<br />

kV) to become the 500 kV Ban Na Bong – Udon Thani 3 – Chaiyaphum 2 – Tha Tako line,<br />

2) The construction of the 230 kV Chaiyaphum 2 – Chaiyaphum line with a total length of<br />

approximately 1,492 circuit-kilometers, a new substation and the installation of<br />

transformers of 4,000 MVA. It was approved by the cabinet on December 18, 2007 and<br />

planned to be completed in June 2017.<br />
