The 240 by Maads
For more contemporary fashion
and designs in Phnom Penh, The
240 by Maads offers colourful
selections of designed products by
both local Cambodian, regional and
international artists. The result is a
wide choice of fashion, accessories,
and home decorations that serve
as ideal souvenirs. The bright
yellow concept store is adjacent
to a café, also run by Maads, one
of Cambodia’s leading hospitality
groups with a repertoire of
hotels and restaurants. The
café serves light meals, coffees

Starting off as an NGO-based entity back in 1955, Rajana Crafts
was founded to revive the Cambodian arts and design grandeur that
existed from the 9th to 14th century, with an emphasis on resurrecting
the creative talents of the local people. By offering Cambodian people
a sustainable income through their crafts, the organisation has also
offered people a chance to work from home while caring for their
family. Now an independent Cambodian-run nonprofit and social
enterprise, Rajana has two shops in Phnom Penh, one on Street 240

GOOD THINGS
On the leafy street of 240 in Phnom Penh sits a special shopping
destination for memorable Cambodian souvenirs. Rajana Crafts dedicates
its inventory to showcasing and selling handcrafted items made and
designed by Cambodian villagers and craftspeople. In one of its stores
on a hip street in Phnom Penh, products range from Khmer-art inspired
jewellery, pottery, clothing, and accessories to Cambodian’s signature
shawls and scarves.
A POOLSIDE CINEMA PARADISO
Enjoy movie classics under the nostalgic
Cambodian sky. From November until
December 20, 2017, the Raffles Hotel
Le Royal in Phnom Penh is organising
their annual ritual of ‘Cinema Paradiso’,
showcasing film classics by the pool.
The screening schedules beckon movie
buffs with a classic selection, ranging
from Amadeus (1984) on November 15
and Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (1967)
on November 22, to Jackie (2016) on
November 29 and Raiders of the Lost Ark
(1990) on December 6 and Home Alone
(1981) on December 20.
Seating for the feature starts at
6.30pm, while the movie comes on at
7.00pm. Held every year at Raffles Hotel
Le Royal, guests and non-guests alike can
enjoy the hotel’s iconic pool garden. Price
is US$23 per person, inclusive of half a
bottle of wine, finger foods and canapés
or US$35 for half a bottle of Cava. So,
bring a friend, order a whole bottle
and indulge in an evening in the hotel’s
elegant surroundings and its atmospheric
past of the Cambodian capital.
