he platoon of maneki-neko, suspended rank and file upon<br />
the wall, gazed down, their hypnotic beckoning paw bidding<br />
guests to enter Sister Kong. The door situated at the end of the<br />
lane, running off elegant Victoria Street, opened into a welcoming<br />
establishment of exotic hospitality. Brocade-clad dancers moved<br />
gently, each fan flutter as gentle as a dove’s wing, capturing the<br />
eye, whilst trays of food seduced the palate. Small whirlpools of<br />
conversation eddied about the room, connecting to form a joyous<br />
hubbub into which all were drawn, until that old party-pooper<br />
named closing time, rang down the curtain on the evening.<br />
