WHAT
NOT
TO DO IN A
LUXURY
SPA
When staying at a luxury lodge, make
use of the facilities – but do behave.
Words Victoria Tait
1. TREATMENT ROOMS
Paper knickers are a spa treatment essential. If you haven’t used
them before, take a moment to look at the configuration first...
Be assured, there’s a front and a back. Remember these are for
treatments only – some items should never be shown in public
and this is one of them.
2. GETTING FRISKY
If you are visiting as a couple, we think it’s lovely that you’d like
to enjoy a relaxing massage together, however, remember, your
room is just down the hall... so pick up your paper knickers and
off you go.
3. BOOZE
It’s never a good idea to overindulge before a massage or facial.
It might seem like a good idea at the time but the reality is you’ll
sleep through it, wake up with one hell of a hangover and pay a
large fee for something you totally missed.
4. DRESS CODE
Do your research before you derobe. In a German or Austrian
spa it’s bad manners to wears clothes, yet in a New Zealand spa
we’re far too conservative to go for the birthday suit.
5. IN THE POOL AREA
This is a fact: striking up a conversation with someone in the hot
tub, steam room or sauna looks like you’re trying to pick them
up. Don’t be naïve, just be quiet.
