Man's pride would lead him to seek for<br />

salvation in some other way than that devised by<br />

God. He is unwilling to be accounted as nothing,<br />

unwilling to recognize Christ as the only One who<br />

can save to the uttermost. To this pride Satan<br />

appealed in the temptation that he brought to our<br />

first parents. "Ye shall be as gods; ye shall not<br />

surely die," he said. And by belief of his words,<br />

they place themselves on his side.<br />

Of Christ it is written, "There is none other<br />

name under heaven given among men, whereby we<br />

must be saved." "In all things it behooved him to<br />

be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a<br />

merciful <strong>and</strong> faithful high priest in things<br />

pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the<br />

sins of the people. For in that he himself hath<br />

suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them<br />
