Man's pride would lead him to seek for
salvation in some other way than that devised by
God. He is unwilling to be accounted as nothing,
unwilling to recognize Christ as the only One who
can save to the uttermost. To this pride Satan
appealed in the temptation that he brought to our
first parents. "Ye shall be as gods; ye shall not
surely die," he said. And by belief of his words,
they place themselves on his side.
Of Christ it is written, "There is none other

must be saved." "In all things it behooved him to
be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a
merciful and faithful high priest in things
pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the
