friendly discipline.
The sprawling campus features the original
Cor Jesu classroom wing, the oldest building
on the current campus, built in 1954; the
Robert M. Conlin Gymnasium; and the Tom
and Gayle Benson Mall. Additional facilities
include the Thomas F. and Elaine P. Ridgley
Fine Arts and Athletic Center, E. A. Farley
Field, the Roland H. & Macy Paton Meyer
Science and Mathematics Building, the Tom
and Gayle Benson Field, and the James B.
Branton Chapel.
Brother Martin admits prospective students
without discrimination of race, color, sexual
orientation, national and ethnic origin.
Admission is based upon students’ priority of
choice in choosing Brother Martin, their overall
elementary school record, recommendation
of elementary school principals, and personal
interviews.
Brother Martin is fully accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
It provides a college preparatory curriculum
designed to develop skills and create options
for higher education. Seven counselors serve
the student body. The Advanced Placement
and honors programs allow students to earn
Advanced Placement credits in English, computer,
history, math, and the sciences. ACT
and PSAT test preparation is presented weekly
for all students. Students who participate in
dual enrollment with LSU in Advanced Math
Honors and Pre-Calculus earn college credit.
The governing body of Brother Martin is the
Board of Directors, responsible for setting
school policy and regulations and hiring the
school president and principal. The administration
consists of a president, who is head of the
school and directs the school’s development
and capital campaign. The principal is responsible
for day-to-day operations and is assisted
by the assistant principal for student services,
the dean of students, the academic assistant
principal, and the director of admissions.
Brother Martin also boasts a variety of programs
in athletics and extracurricular activities,
such as basketball, baseball, bowling,
cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming,
tennis, track & field, wrestling, lacrosse,
NJROTC, Key Club, and Student Ministry.
Brother Martin High School is permeated
with the long tradition of the Brothers of
the Sacred Heart and their lay partners in mission
and is committed to educating young
men for life.
