STORYVILLE
Beautiful views of Hotel Storyville, located
at 1261 Esplanade Avenue.
Could there possibly be a more perfect
name for a great place to stay in New Orleans?
Surely, Barbara Ann Locklear would concur.
After all, she became a prominent part of the
story over fifteen years ago, when she moved to
New Orleans from St. Thomas in the Virgin
Islands. With an extensive background in graphic
arts, she met a very interesting elderly couple
who happened to own the Hotel Storyville, and
began doing some work for them.
Unable to travel together, due to the demands
of running the hotel, they asked Barbara to
“babysit” while they were away. And one thing
led to another—as they usually will in good stories—resulting
in Barbara becoming the hotel’s
new owner. Serendipity struck again, when
Barbara was able to translate her love of the
island ambience into the hotel’s complete renovation
and its cool and relaxing tropical decor.
An island of quiet charm amidst the highenergy
that is New Orleans! This is Hotel
Storyville today. Only a couple of blocks from
the edge of the excitement of the French
Quarter and Bourbon Street, the hotel is perfectly
situated to provide what Barbara aptly
describes as “the best of both worlds.”
After a stimulating day of sightseeing,
shopping, or doing business, the hotel’s guests
can retire to their tropical retreat to relax
under the gazebos in the lush garden, sample
the Mermaid Lounge or the Tiki Bar, or enjoy
a drink while people watching from the porch
or the upstairs balcony—while “morning”
people may ease into the day while perusing
the newspaper over coffee or planning their
next foray into the heart of the city.
A restful stay is assured in the hotel’s colorful
ocean-themed accommodations. Ranging
from efficiencies to two-bedroom suites, the
hotel provides a wide choice of the luxurious
amenities you would expect, including king
and queen beds; kitchenettes; dining areas;
living rooms; sleeper sofas; and, of course, free
Wi-Fi and flat screen televisions.
Because of its charming locale, Hotel
Storyville has also become a coveted venue for
many local events, such as weddings, receptions,
reunions, corporate events, and crawfish
boils. With its lush garden capable of
seating over 300 guests, and the availability of
a full event staff, the hotel is poised to make
entertainment dreams come true.
As countless testimonials from satisfied guests
recount, Barbara’s vision of a tropical retreat in
the heart of New Orleans has come to fruition
in the Hotel Storyville—a true jewel in one of
the world’s unique cities. For more information
