It might be unfair to say that smartphones have become
an “indispensable” new organ for children today, because
even adults have trouble living without one. These days, it’s
nearly impossible to imagine a time when we didn’t have a
device to pick up and play with. As Steve Jobs said in 2007
when the iPhone was first announced, “Every once in awhile, a
revolutionary product comes along that changes everything…”.
Everything at Your Fingertips
It’s no wonder that researchers hail smartphones as one of
the world’s most impactful inventions. The mobile phone is
no longer just a tool of wireless voice communication, but also
a device to send text, photos and symbols. The smartphone
has become our pocketable computer and personal assistant
which handles all things in life from booking a restaurant,
navigating through new streets or even alarming us when there
is an earthquake. With news apps and social networks we are
updated instantly, no matter when or where, as long as the
internet can reach us.
New Organ
With its versatile functions and the fact that we carry one
everywhere we go, the smartphone has become an essential
part of human life. Nelson Surveying, Inc. found that in 2014,
two in three American adults had a smartphone. In Thailand
the Digital Advertising Association found that in 2014 there
were 94.3 million mobile phones being used in the country. The
latest survey from the Thailand Internet User Profile 2015 by the
Office of Electronic Transactions (ETDA) found that Thai people
