<strong>Responsible</strong> <strong>gambling</strong> measures are listed at http://www.justice.vic.gov.au >Gambling and<br />

Racing > <strong>Responsible</strong> Gambling. Some of these measures include:<br />

1. The Gambling Regulation Act 2003 requires that all permanent gaming venue staff complete<br />

an accredited training course on responsible <strong>gambling</strong> within six months of commencing<br />

their employment.<br />

2. All gaming machines must display the time of the day, either on the machine screen, or on a<br />

clock attached to the machine.<br />

3. Underage <strong>gambling</strong> is banned. Children are not allowed to play gaming machines under any<br />

circumstance or to be in areas where gaming machines are present.<br />

4. The removal of all ATM machines from gaming venues from July 2012<br />

5. The number of machines in each gaming venue, except the Melbourne casino, is limited to 105.<br />

6. 24-hour venues are not allowed in regional and rural areas<br />

7. 24-hour trading is prohibited for all venues, other than the Melbourne casino.<br />

8. A maximum bet limit of $5.<br />

a) From the measures listed above, select three of them. Complete the two tables below.<br />

Table 1 will contain the views of a key stakeholder, a gaming venue owner. Table 2 will<br />

contain the views of another key stakeholder, a concerned local resident. Both tables will<br />

refer to their views on the social/economic benefits and the social/economic costs of the<br />

measures selected.<br />
