周 圍 的 環 境 安 靜 地 有 點 可 怕 , 除 了 吉 普 車 依 然 處 於 發
動 狀 態 的 嗡 嗡 聲 , 所 有 人 都 默 不 作 聲 地 等 待 著 。Yaju 讓 其 它
跟 過 來 的 車 輛 , 繼 續 跟 在 我 們 後 面 , 大 家 排 成 一 行 開 到 了 山
丘 一 側 一 條 狹 窄 的 砂 土 小 路 上 。 他 解 釋 說 , 老 虎 的 爪 子 上 有
柔 軟 的 肉 墊 , 所 以 相 比 荊 棘 叢 生 的 灌 木 叢 , 牠 們 更 喜 歡 走 人
類 修 建 的 土 路 。
他 說 的 沒 錯 , 大 約 僅 僅 過 了 三 分 鐘 , 一 隻 身 形 瘦 長 的
老 虎 突 然 出 現 在 了 我 們 前 方 約 二 十 米 處 的 道 路 上 。 大 家 紛
紛 舉 起 手 中 的 相 機 和 手 機 , 拍 下 這 隻 難 得 一 見 的 龐 大 又 優
雅 的 貓 科 動 物 。Yaju 在 忙 著 拍 照 的 同 時 , 沒 忘 記 告 訴 大 家
從 體 型 來 看 這 是 一 隻 雌 虎 。 為 了 不 驚 擾 到 牠 , 我 們 的 車 輛
沒 有 繼 續 靠 近 , 牠 似 乎 也 沒 有 對 我 們 這 些 冒 然 的 闖 入 者 表
現 出 任 何 不 滿 和 敵 意 , 在 停 留 了 一 會 兒 之 後 , 慢 慢 地 踱 進
密 林 中 消 失 不 見 了 。
又 過 了 一 會 兒 , 大 家 才 從 這 夢 境 一 般 偶 遇 老 虎 的 經 歷
中 回 過 神 來 。 大 家 大 聲 談 論 著 , 互 相 交 換 這 難 得 的 體 驗 和
感 受 。 我 們 剛 剛 看 到 了 一 位 真 正 的 自 然 界 的 「 王 者 」, 牠
的 身 體 是 如 此 充 滿 力 量 和 威 嚴 , 同 時 又 有 著 那 麼 美 麗 的 毛
皮 和 優 雅 的 肌 肉 線 條 , 造 物 主 的 妙 筆 似 乎 在 牠 身 上 得 到 了
集 中 的 體 現 。
回 到 住 宿 地 , 大 家 依 然 意 猶 未 盡 。 我 原 本 為 自 己 坐 在
離 老 虎 最 近 的 第 一 輛 車 上 而 感 到 很 慶 倖 , 但 檢 查 當 時 拍 的
照 片 , 卻 發 現 可 能 是 激 動 到 手 抖 的 原 因 , 我 拍 的 照 片 似 乎
並 不 比 後 面 的 乘 客 們 更 清 晰 。 好 在 我 們 還 有 專 業 級 的 攝 影
師 Yaju, 我 把 自 己 的 電 子 郵 箱 留 給 了 他 , 拜 託 他 一 定 把 這 隻
同 我 有 緣 的 老 虎 的 照 片 發 給 我 。 這 次 幸 運 的 野 生 動 物 園 之
旅 , 有 些 勾 起 了 我 對 此 類 旅 遊 景 點 的 興 趣 。 我 已 經 在 心 中 暗
暗 盤 算 起 下 次 要 再 去 哪 個 野 生 動 物 園 遊 覽 一 下 , 也 許 還 會
再 次 遇 到 一 些 如 此 美 麗 的 生 靈 。
泰 姬 印 度 酒 店 集 團 旗 下 的 Pashan Garh 和 Banjaar Tola 都 充 滿 了 質 樸
和 優 雅 的 獨 特 氣 息 。 你 既 可 以 在 叢 林 小 屋 中 休 憩 , 感 受 與 自 然 合
一 的 樂 趣 , 也 可 以 到 奢 華 的 旅 館 中 享 用 精 緻 的 美 餐 。
The only sound that could be heard was the quiet hum
of the jeeps. Yaju maneuvered around the other vehicles
and followed a narrow sand path at the side of the hill. He
explained that the tigers preferred walking on the soft sand
of the man-made lanes instead of the forest underbrush, due
to the soft pads of their paws. And sure enough, about three
minutes later, a lanky tigress walked into the road maybe 20
metres in front of us. There was a flutter to get cameras and
lenses adjusted to capture this majestic creature. We followed
the elegant feline quietly, kept our distance, and eventually
lowered our cameras to enjoy a peaceful, mindful coexistence
with the tigress. And then we let her carry on.
Back at the luxuriously appointed lodge, we told stories of
our sightings to each other and shared blurry photos (luckily,
Yaju captured the animal brilliantly and had our email addresses).
I was now a safari junkie, so absolutely won over by
the thrill of the chase and the notion that these magnificent
creatures and I existed in the same unfettered space if even
for a few moments.
