CULTURE | THE BENAKI MUSEUM 文 化<br />
The Benaki Museum opened to the public in <strong>19</strong>31 and reopened<br />
with a re-imagined display in 2000. Originally the family<br />
home <strong>of</strong> the Benaki family, it was bequeathed to the nation by<br />
its scion, Antonis Benakis (1873–<strong>19</strong>54). The new display untangled<br />
the fascinating web <strong>of</strong> the founder’s private collection and<br />
presented a panorama <strong>of</strong> Greek culture from distant prehistory<br />
to the 20th century with the aid <strong>of</strong> further donations; this scope<br />
is unique worldwide.<br />
The Benaki Museum <strong>of</strong> Greek Culture, the flagship in a network<br />
<strong>of</strong> six Benaki museums and cultural venues across Athens, attracts<br />
hundreds <strong>of</strong> thousands <strong>of</strong> visitors yearly and <strong>of</strong>fers a comprehensive<br />
experience complemented by temporary exhibitions, a much-loved<br />
restaurant and the longest-established museum shop in Greece.<br />

過 從 新 布 展 再 次 開 放 。 博 物 館 原 本 是 貝 納 基 家 族 的 住 宅 , 由<br />
其 繼 承 人 安 東 尼 斯 · 貝 納 基 斯 (1873 年 —<strong>19</strong>54 年 ) 遺 贈 給<br />
國 家 。 更 新 後 的 展 品 包 括 了 貝 納 基 家 族 豐 富 的 收 藏 和 其 他 方<br />
面 的 捐 贈 , 展 示 了 希 臘 文 化 從 遠 古 的 史 前 時 代 到 20 世 紀 的 全<br />
