The Magic Castle is a private club of skilled<br />
and celebrated magicians from all over the<br />
world. The members of the club are dedicated<br />
to preserving the history of magic as an art form.<br />
The Magic Castle Club is known worldwide<br />
as the premiere entertainment venue for<br />
presenting the ancient art of magic. From a<br />
humble charter membership of 150, the<br />
membership of the club has grown to 5,000.<br />
The core of these is the professional performing<br />
magicians who comprise “regular members” of<br />
the club. “Associate” membership is open to all<br />
who support the goals of the Magic Castle.<br />
The Magic Castle occupies a lavishly<br />
appointed, authentic Victorian mansion built<br />
in 1906 as a private residence. In addition<br />
to showcasing magic in three theatres and<br />
numerous “close-up” tables, the club provides<br />
members and guests with an evening of<br />
elegant dining.<br />
Following an evening meal, guests are invited<br />
to see presentations of magic in its many forms<br />
in the three main theatres of the facility. The<br />
Close-up Gallery presents masters of the art of<br />
close-up magic in an intimate setting of just<br />
twenty-two guests. The Dai Vernon Parlour<br />
recreates the Victorian experience of the<br />
“parlour” (or living room) magician. The Palace<br />
of Mystery hosts the grand illusions of stage<br />
performers in a cabaret setting.<br />
The Magic Castle contains a collection of art,<br />
memorabilia and historical artifacts chronicling<br />
the profession of magical arts. Guests are invited<br />
to explore the Castle’s many surprises including<br />
a visit with Irma, the Castle’s resident pianoplaying<br />
ghost.<br />
The Magic Castle has long been the center of<br />
the magician’s universe. Its architecture and<br />
reputation as a major entertainment venue make<br />
it significant in the annals of <strong>Hollywood</strong> History.<br />
Tom Glover purchased the Magic Castle<br />
Hotel in 1974. Glover, who is also the landlord<br />
of the adjacent Magic Castle Club, visualized<br />
a boutique hotel for magicians performing at<br />
the Magic Castle and members and guests of<br />
the Club.<br />
Glover transformed the property into a<br />
charming hotel featuring one and two bedroom<br />
suites with full kitchens to serve a diverse<br />
clientele. The attentive staff makes this family<br />
owned and operated hotel a home away<br />
from home.<br />
