Good Morning Vietnam; Born on the Fourth of<br />

July; Hairspray; and Almost Famous, and for<br />

hundreds of TV episodes including The<br />

Sopranos, Ally McBeal, The Simpsons, Melrose<br />

Place and Beverly Hills 90210, and<br />

The Wonder Years.<br />

In spite of changes in musical styles and<br />

tastes, Laboe’s goal of offering attentive,<br />

personalized service with dedication to the<br />

consistent development of high quality<br />

products remains unchanged.<br />

Laboe holds several radio licenses,<br />

including radio telephone first class, radio<br />

telegraph, and holds an amateur radio<br />

advanced class license as well.<br />

Like so many of the musical icons he<br />

helped to stardom, the City of Los Angeles<br />

honored Laboe with his very own star on<br />

the <strong>Hollywood</strong> Walk of Fame on July 17,<br />

1981–a day declared by the <strong>Hollywood</strong><br />

Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of<br />

Los Angeles as “Art Laboe Day.”<br />

Today Laboe uses his extensive music<br />

experience and a mix of modern technology<br />

to choose the perfect songs for his top rated<br />

radio program, “The Art Laboe Sunday<br />

Special,” which broadcasts 6 pm–12 midnight<br />

pacific time on HOT 92 JAMZ in LA,<br />

twelve radio stations, and worldwide on the<br />

Internet at www.KillerOldies.com. This site<br />

is on 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.<br />

According to Arbitron, Laboe’s Internet<br />

broadcast is among the highest rated online<br />

stations worldwide.<br />

The Art Laboe Foundation annually<br />

awards scholarships to students from East<br />

Los Angeles and <strong>Hollywood</strong> high schools,<br />

and is a testimony to his generosity. The<br />

foundation also supports other charitable<br />

organizations including The Wildlife Way<br />

Station, the Humane Society, the USO, and<br />

animal rights.<br />

To sum up his many contributions,<br />

Laboe said, “Tastes change, technologies<br />

change, competition comes and goes, and<br />

we change with it. And sometimes we<br />

are leaders.”<br />
