In spite of changes in musical styles and
tastes, Laboe’s goal of offering attentive,
personalized service with dedication to the

products remains unchanged.
Laboe holds several radio licenses,
including radio telephone first class, radio
telegraph, and holds an amateur radio
advanced class license as well.
Like so many of the musical icons he
helped to stardom, the City of Los Angeles
honored Laboe with his very own star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame on July 17,
1981–a day declared by the Hollywood
Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of
Los Angeles as “Art Laboe Day.”
Today Laboe uses his extensive music
experience and a mix of modern technology
to choose the perfect songs for his top rated
radio program, “The Art Laboe Sunday
Special,” which broadcasts 6 pm–12 midnight
pacific time on HOT 92 JAMZ in LA,
twelve radio stations, and worldwide on the
Internet at www.KillerOldies.com. This site
is on 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
According to Arbitron, Laboe’s Internet
broadcast is among the highest rated online
stations worldwide.
The Art Laboe Foundation annually
awards scholarships to students from East
Los Angeles and Hollywood high schools,
and is a testimony to his generosity. The
foundation also supports other charitable
organizations including The Wildlife Way
Station, the Humane Society, the USO, and
animal rights.
To sum up his many contributions,
Laboe said, “Tastes change, technologies
change, competition comes and goes, and
we change with it. And sometimes we
are leaders.”
