Rikard Appelgren, WSP
Rikard is managing director of WSP Sweden and WSP Europe,
and is executive director of WSP plc board. Having worked
as an engineering consultant and contractor in Sweden and
Germany for 8 years he joined WSP Sweden in 1996.
Kurt Birkenmeier, gauff JBg Ingenieure
Kurt graduated from the Technical University of Braunschweig
for Civil Engineering in 1979. He has 30 years of professional
experience in the fields of hydraulic and structural engineering
as well as cost estimate and cost control, part of which
was gained abroad. Kurt is extensively experienced in the
management of large projects and large companies of up to
500 employees through his work in internationally successful
companies over 30 years, and in senior positions for almost
20 years. He has worked in Germany, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia,
United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Uganda, Tanzania, China and
Egypt.
Hugh Blackwood, URS Scott Wilson
Hugh joined Scott Wilson in 1971 and developed his career
as a civil engineer in the road and railway sectors. He was
made a partner in the business in 1989. In 1995 Hugh led
the acquisition of the former British Rail engineering offices
in Swindon and Glasgow and took on the role of chief
executive officer of the UK railways division. In May 2005
Hugh was appointed joint chief executive of the Scott Wilson
Group charged with the continued successful growth of the
international and UK railways divisions. In May 2008 Hugh
became group chief executive. Following the acquisition of the
company by URS Corporation in September 2010, Hugh was
appointed to the position of senior vice president, international
operations as well as vice president of URS Corporation.
