les Buck, Halcrow<br />
Les was appointed as a main board director in May 1998. He<br />
is now group board director <strong>for</strong> technical development <strong>and</strong><br />
delivery. Between 2003 <strong>and</strong> 2007 he led the development of<br />
Halcrow’s North American business, which grew to over 500<br />
staff during that time. Prior to moving to the USA, he was<br />
the managing director of the transportation business group<br />
between 2001 <strong>and</strong> 2003. He has over 35 years experience<br />
as a civil engineer in the design <strong>and</strong> construction of maritime,<br />
flood defence, power, highway, rail <strong>and</strong> airport projects. He<br />
is chairman of the risk sub-committee <strong>and</strong> a trustee of the<br />
Halcrow Trust.<br />
Pablo Bueno, TYPSA<br />
Pablo graduated with an MSc in civil engineering in 1987<br />
<strong>and</strong> later gained an MBA at IESE Business School in<br />
Madrid. He began his career at TYPSA, a Spanish firm of<br />
consulting engineers <strong>and</strong> architects, at first as an engineer<br />
working on designs <strong>and</strong> construction supervision, <strong>and</strong> later<br />
in a management role. He launched the ports <strong>and</strong> coasts<br />
department at TYPSA, as well as spending four years in<br />
Saudi Arabia where he managed construction supervision<br />
<strong>and</strong> buildings. His international experience also includes a<br />
year with a British engineering firm in the UK. He has ample<br />
experience in dealing with clients from all over the world <strong>and</strong> in<br />
supervising <strong>and</strong> organising highly specialised multi-disciplinary<br />
teams in all fields of engineering. Pablo became managing<br />
director of TYPSA <strong>and</strong> is now the CEO. TYPSA has 1,880<br />
employees working in the fields of civil engineering, buildings,<br />
water <strong>and</strong> the environment, in more than 20 offices in Spain,<br />
Europe, USA, Latin America, Africa <strong>and</strong> the Middle East. He<br />
is a Member of the Spanish Institution of Civil Engineers <strong>and</strong><br />
executive member of the Spanish Tunneling <strong>Association</strong>. He<br />
was vice president of the European Federation of Consulting<br />
Engineers (EFCA) <strong>for</strong> 5 years <strong>and</strong> is currently on the executive<br />
committee of FIDIC.
