les Buck, Halcrow
Les was appointed as a main board director in May 1998. He
is now group board director for technical development and
delivery. Between 2003 and 2007 he led the development of
Halcrow’s North American business, which grew to over 500
staff during that time. Prior to moving to the USA, he was
the managing director of the transportation business group
between 2001 and 2003. He has over 35 years experience
as a civil engineer in the design and construction of maritime,
flood defence, power, highway, rail and airport projects. He
is chairman of the risk sub-committee and a trustee of the
Halcrow Trust.
Pablo Bueno, TYPSA
Pablo graduated with an MSc in civil engineering in 1987
and later gained an MBA at IESE Business School in
Madrid. He began his career at TYPSA, a Spanish firm of
consulting engineers and architects, at first as an engineer
working on designs and construction supervision, and later
in a management role. He launched the ports and coasts
department at TYPSA, as well as spending four years in
Saudi Arabia where he managed construction supervision
and buildings. His international experience also includes a
year with a British engineering firm in the UK. He has ample
experience in dealing with clients from all over the world and in
supervising and organising highly specialised multi-disciplinary
teams in all fields of engineering. Pablo became managing
director of TYPSA and is now the CEO. TYPSA has 1,880
employees working in the fields of civil engineering, buildings,
water and the environment, in more than 20 offices in Spain,
Europe, USA, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. He
is a Member of the Spanish Institution of Civil Engineers and
executive member of the Spanish Tunneling Association. He
was vice president of the European Federation of Consulting
Engineers (EFCA) for 5 years and is currently on the executive
committee of FIDIC.
