UK <strong>and</strong> the major international business centres around the<br />
world, ensuring the group’s continued position in the top ten<br />
engineering consultancies. He was appointed chairman in<br />
2002, since when the group’s revenue has more than tripled,<br />
<strong>and</strong> he oversaw the highly successful flotation in March 2006.<br />
In 2008 he became non executive chairman of the group. In<br />
2005 he was elected to the executive committee of FIDIC, the<br />
International Federation of Consulting Engineers <strong>and</strong> became<br />
vice president in 2009. He is also a past chairman of ACE in<br />
the UK. He became a vice president of the Institution of Civil<br />
Engineers in November 2008.<br />
Peter gammie, Halcrow<br />
Peter has been with Halcrow <strong>for</strong> 32 years, 20 of which as a<br />
board director, <strong>and</strong> <strong>for</strong> the last eight has been chief executive.<br />
Halcrow is a design <strong>and</strong> planning consultant, operating in<br />
the field of civil <strong>and</strong> structural engineering. Halcrow is a top<br />
five player in most of its chosen markets <strong>and</strong> ‘number one’<br />
in several. Its reputation <strong>for</strong> the design <strong>and</strong> delivery of major<br />
projects has been extended over the past few years through<br />
successful commissions such as High Speed 1, The Gr<strong>and</strong><br />
Mosque in Abu Dhabi <strong>and</strong> the St Petersburg Navigation <strong>and</strong><br />
Flood Protection Barrier. Beyond Halcrow, Peter regularly<br />
engages in industry events <strong>and</strong> is an active member of<br />
ACE. He is a regular speaker <strong>and</strong> panellist at seminars <strong>and</strong><br />
conferences, both in the UK <strong>and</strong> internationally. He has<br />
chaired CIRIA since 2007.<br />
Jonathan goring, capita Symonds<br />
Jonathan Goring runs the 4,000 person business of<br />
Capita Symonds. His project career spans the Broadgate<br />
Development, British Airways’ World Cargo Centre at<br />
Heathrow Airport, <strong>and</strong> latterly strategic advice on Wembley<br />
Stadium, The Shard of Glass, Twickenham South St<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
London 2012 Olympics <strong>and</strong> Paralympic Games. Jonathan’s<br />
