gordon clark, gifford
Gordon graduated in civil engineering from Imperial College
London. He is chairman of consulting engineers Gifford, where
he has been since 1976 and through his career specialised
mainly in bridge design. He was project director for Gifford
for the award-winning Gateshead Millennium Bridge which
has become an icon around the world. He has seen Gifford
grow from around 60 staff and he joined the management
when Gifford had around 150 staff, then growing to almost
900 purely organically, before the economic downturn started
in 2008. He has experienced the stresses of growth and
recession on business and how management needs to adapt
its style, processes and systems in support.
chris cole, WSP
Chris is the chief executive of the publicly-quoted company,
WSP Group plc, one of the largest international consultancy
groups in the world employing around 9,000 staff worldwide.
Chris joined WSP at its inception in the 1970s, took the
company public in 1987 and, as well as being CEO, chairs the
performance and strategy boards. In addition, Chris is nonexecutive
chairman of Ashtead Group plc.
Ken dalton, Aecom
Ken is chief executive, Europe, and is a member of the
AECOM operations board. He is also a member of the AECOM
Europe compliance committee and the pensions and global
stock plan committee. The company has been recognised in
the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For and the
Financial Times Best Workplaces over a number of years. The
company is a foundation member of Tomorrow’s Co., which
promotes relationships with all stakeholders and is proactive
in implementing the EFQM Excellence model to deliver
continuous improvement. Ken has more than 39 years of
professional consulting engineering experience.
