John Turzynski, Arup
John is a director of Arup, having joined the firm in 1977. Since
then he has worked in the United Kingdom, the USA, Zambia
and Australia. He has been a leader of Arup’s building design
business in London, Europe and the USA. He is currently
Arup’s chief operating officer for the UK, Middle East and
Africa region. He has led multidisciplinary project teams on a
variety of projects in the UK, Europe, the USA and beyond.
These have ranged in size from master plans and major
redevelopments to more modest projects. In recent years,
John has focused on building projects associated with major
infrastructure developments, particularly related to cities and
regeneration. Some of John’s noteworthy projects include:
King’s Cross St Pancras Station redevelopment project
(Underground) (LUL); King’s Cross Station redevelopment
programme (Overground) (Network Rail), London; Crossrail,
London; California Academy of Sciences, San Francisco;
CalPERS Headquarters, Sacramento, California; General
Motors Warren Technical Center, Warren, Michigan, USA; the
Royal Opera House development, Covent Garden, London;
Glyndebourne Opera House, Glyndebourne, East Sussex;
Portcullis House, Westminster, London; and the Zuidas project,
Amsterdam, Netherlands.
mats Wäppling, SWeco
Mats has served as CEO and president of SWECO AB since
January 2007 and has been a member of the board since
2003. Mats is 54 years old and has an MSc in civil engineering
from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. From
2003 to 2006 he was the executive vice president of the
Swedish construction company NCC AB and President of
NCC Property Development. Prior to this, he held various
positions in the Skanska Group between 1979 and 2002,
including executive vice president and business area manager.
