John Turzynski, Arup<br />
John is a director of Arup, having joined the firm in 1977. Since<br />
then he has worked in the United Kingdom, the USA, Zambia<br />
<strong>and</strong> Australia. He has been a leader of Arup’s building design<br />
business in London, Europe <strong>and</strong> the USA. He is currently<br />
Arup’s chief operating officer <strong>for</strong> the UK, Middle East <strong>and</strong><br />
Africa region. He has led multidisciplinary project teams on a<br />
variety of projects in the UK, Europe, the USA <strong>and</strong> beyond.<br />
These have ranged in size from master plans <strong>and</strong> major<br />
redevelopments to more modest projects. In recent years,<br />
John has focused on building projects associated with major<br />
infrastructure developments, particularly related to cities <strong>and</strong><br />
regeneration. Some of John’s noteworthy projects include:<br />
King’s Cross St Pancras Station redevelopment project<br />
(Underground) (LUL); King’s Cross Station redevelopment<br />
programme (Overground) (Network Rail), London; Crossrail,<br />
London; Cali<strong>for</strong>nia Academy of Sciences, San Francisco;<br />
CalPERS Headquarters, Sacramento, Cali<strong>for</strong>nia; General<br />
Motors Warren Technical Center, Warren, Michigan, USA; the<br />
Royal Opera House development, Covent Garden, London;<br />
Glyndebourne Opera House, Glyndebourne, East Sussex;<br />
Portcullis House, Westminster, London; <strong>and</strong> the Zuidas project,<br />
Amsterdam, Netherl<strong>and</strong>s.<br />
mats Wäppling, SWeco<br />
Mats has served as CEO <strong>and</strong> president of SWECO AB since<br />
January 2007 <strong>and</strong> has been a member of the board since<br />
2003. Mats is 54 years old <strong>and</strong> has an MSc in civil engineering<br />
from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. From<br />
2003 to 2006 he was the executive vice president of the<br />
Swedish construction company NCC AB <strong>and</strong> President of<br />
NCC Property Development. Prior to this, he held various<br />
positions in the Skanska Group between 1979 <strong>and</strong> 2002,<br />
including executive vice president <strong>and</strong> business area manager.
