I came to Korea in Spring 2018 as a transfer student.
Universities in Korea are well-known for their good
education system. Since I wanted to experience life
abroad, I decided to come here. I'm also one of the
biggest fans of Korean culture and entertainment,
such as K-Pop and K-Drama. At first, life here was quite
different from my country, and it took some time for
me to adjust to these differences. For one, I need to
speak Korean or at least understand it, because in
Jeonju most people speak only in Korean. However,
with the help of my friends, I’m able to adapt easier. I
have less chances to travel around Jeollabuk-do, but
my friends and I often go to places nearby Jeonju.
Some examples include, the Hanok village, Moak-san
(and many other mountains), Ajung Lake (and other
lakes) and so on. After all, Jeonju is famous for its
historical and traditional places, so we try to enjoy
them.
As for my future plans, I have been thinking about it a
lot lately because my graduation is happening soon.
So far, I plan to find a job in Korea, work for a couple
of years, then I want to apply for a Master's degree.
Special New Year tradition: In Uzbekistan, New Year’s
is considered a family holiday, so we spend it with
family and close relatives. In the evening, we set a
table with different kinds of food and enjoy the meal
up until 2 a.m. In contrast to our celebration, Koreans
usually welcome a New Year by spending time with
friends. In Korea, Lunar New Year, or "Seollal" as they
call it, is much more important than the 1st of January.
