Talking about the weather:
It was (very) hot/cold.
It was win dy/foggy/sunny.
The sun was shining.
It was (very) wet/dry.
It was raining/snowing.

Talking about the temperature:
It was 20°C (twenty degrees centigrade/Celsius).
It was 70°F (seventy degrees Fahrenheit).
Fahrenheit is the standard tem perature m easure in the USA.
0°C = 32°F

Note the examples of the Past Continuous tense:
The sun was shining. Was it raining when you left?
Were you getting worried?
Yes, we were. / No, we were not (weren 't).
