Jess shook her head no. “I blocked her head from hitting. I think she slammed her back against
the basketball goal pretty hard though.”
“Hey you two, I'm right here,” Cailin said, slightly annoyed at the conversation between Jess and
her sister instead of speaking to her directly.
Maura smiled as she lifted the back of Cailin’s shirt to inspect for injuries. “Don’t be one of
those patients Cailin,” Maura said with a laugh. Maura tried to hide the alarm on her face when
she saw the ugly purple bruise on Cailin’s shoulder blade.
She further inspects her sister and notices a red rash on the opposite shoulder. “Cailin, did you
know you have a rash?”
“Yeah. It’s been there a couple days. I tried some new laundry soap when I did laundry. I think I
might be allergic to it.”
“Cailin, I want you to go upstairs and get some pajamas out of my drawer. Take a shower and
get in bed. You’re going to stay here tonight. I’m not comfortable with you being home alone
after passing out like that. I want you here with me.”
“I can’t”, Cailin objected. “I have clinicals in the morning.”
Maura shook her head. “You’re not doing anything in the morning but going to a doctor and
letting them run some tests to make sure you are okay.”
“But I,” Cailin stopped mid sentence when her sister shot her that look that communicated this
was not up for debate.
“Okay, Okay.”
“Would you mind walking her up Jess?”
