“I’m, I'm selfish. Cailin could be dying and I, all I can, I, I…” Jess doesn’t even want the words

to leave her mouth.”

“Talk to me Jess.” Jane sits down on the bed beside the redhead and begins to gently rub her

back. She would do that with all her kids when they were upset.

Jess sat in silence, garnishing the courage to say what she needed to say.

“Cailin could be dying, and i’m sitting down there thinking about how bad I want drugs right

now so I don't have to deal.” As the words escape her mouth, Jess begins to sob.

Jane holds tightly to Jess. She wished in this moment that she could take away everyone's pain

and worry. After a few moments Jane separated from her daughter and wiped away her fallen

tears.

"Jess, I think it would be a good idea to meet with your sponsor or go to a meeting, whichever

you prefer . No one has to know where you've gone but I think it would do some good sweetie.

Go take care of yourself and come back with a clear mind and then sit and talk with Cailin. I'll go

down and tell some of my ridiculously horrible jokes until you come back. Okay?"

Jess chuckled and wiped away a few more tears before nodding. "Yeah, okay.I'll call my

sponsor.Thanks ma."

Jane placed a kiss on top of Jess's head. "Anytime kiddo. I’m proud of you for coming to me

Jess."
