Chapter Six “ Tears From The Heart”
Later that afternoon Blaire made her way downstairs in search of Jane. Her feet felt as if they had
fifty pound weights attached to her ankles, and her stomach felt as if she had swallowed a
boulder. In her teen years, Blaire had gotten in her share of trouble with drinking and drugs. At
her worst, she had never disrespected her ma like she had today. She screwed up bad and she
knew it. She was dreading having to face her. She found Jane in the kitchen, finishing up some
dishes.
“Hey Ma, I, I think we should probably talk. Do you mind coming up to my room for a bit?”
Jane simply nodded. “Give me a few minutes.”
“Yes ma’am,” Blaire says quietly. She heads back to her room as she fights back the lump in her
throat.
When she gets back upstairs she finds Callie laying on her bed drawing in a sketch journal.
“Hey Cal, ma is about to come up. Would you mind if I talk to her privately for a bit?. I don’t
really want you to have to witness my murder,” she says, only half joking.
Callie nods as she puts the book to the side on her nightstand. “Sure. I’ll go for a walk.”
As Callie made her way to the door Blaire called behind her. “Hey, Cal?”
“Yeah B?”
“I owe you an apology also. I shouldn’t have spoken to you the way I did, anymore than the way
I spoke to ma.”
