Chapter One- “Every Mothers Fear”

Cailin pulled off her white lab coat, neatly folding it in her locker, then quickly pulled out her

bag, reaching in for her keys. She called out to her co-workers as she headed towards the door.

“Sorry I have to run out of here so quickly guys. I am late for my nieces birthday party.” She

made a dash for her car and turned on some tunes before putting on her seatbelt, starting the car,

and heading towards her sister's house.

Currently in her third year of medical school at BCU School of Medicine, Cailin had found her

schedule busier than ever with each passing year of medical school. Despite that, she still tried to

make spending time with her family a priority whenever she possibly could.

As she made her way towards her destination, the sound of sirens caught her attention, and she

groaned as she looked in her rear view mirror and saw a cop behind her. She looked down at her

speedometer in confusion. “What the hell, I wasn’t speeding,” she says to herself as she pulls

over to the side of the road. She turns her music down and reaches into her purse and pulls out

her license and insurance card.

“Ma’am, put your hands on the steering wheel where I can see them please.”

When she heard the officer's voice, she laughed once she realized who it was. “Really Jess? Do

you not have anything better to do than to harass the innocent citizens of Boston?”

It was Jess's turn to laugh. "Innocent citizens of Boston? Cailin, I hope you are not putting

yourself in that category because I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you are far from

innocent."

Cailin scoffs in mock offense. "What? I am too innocent."
