Activities and projects conducted provided a practical insight and helped the
children work and learn with their peers and develop teamwork skills.
The project – Traditions Come to Rescue under the IDS has helped the students to
understand and get an in-depth knowledge of variety of age-old traditions followed
not only in our country but also throughout the world in different countries. The
traditions that played an important role in keeping the infections at a low rate in
this unforeseen pandemic of Covid – 19.
Students were given the task of booklet making on various religious practices
followed in countries like Japan, South Korea and Bulgaria along with India and
their scientific importance in pandemic times, poster presentation on ancient
scriptures in Sanskrit, Manyogana of Japan and Hangul of South Korea in order to
inculcate healthy habits and the values learnt through these scriptures. These
activities allowed the children to investigate and respond to a complex problem
thus adding to their critical thinking and analytical abilities and also their
presentation skills. It also facilitated their team work and understanding along with
facilitating creative thinking and extensive research and reading. The Namaste
World activity was conducted for students of std I and II wherein the students were
asked to collect information on greeting practices of various countries and dress up
in their traditional attires representing the country and greet each other. This
activity has encouraged the children to express their point of view, build fine motor
skills, encourage empathy and assist in the overall emotional development of the
children. It helped to develop confidence in the students for public speaking. The
third activity was I promise which aimed at involving maximum participation of
parents, students as well as teaching staff in a mission to spread awareness about
healthy habits and their implementation in our daily lives. The signature campaign
conducted in school and the survey in the form of questionnaire enabled students
to develop global outlook and face the pandemic situation with sensible and
responsible approach. Updates of the activities were posted on the school facebook
page to spread maximum awareness.
