Historically, Tsushima assumed the role as a point-of-communication with the mainland Japan and other<br />
parts of Asia. This period of history is chronicled in an authentic collection of family scrolls that is the main<br />
exhibit in this museum. The core of the display and storage area has a large volume of space reminiscent<br />
of the warehouse design that used to store these original documents. The ceramic tiles covering this core<br />
are a reference to slabs of stone regularly used in Tsushima architecture. Lighting design highlights the<br />
rough texture of the material, creating dramatic experience of the space.
