LPA 2022 Overview and Prospects for 2023
Our new LPA-China (Shenzhen Office)
We have set up our fourth office, LPA-China, in Shenzhen last June. Under the drawn-out Covid-19, our
primary objective was to carefully provide on-site supervision services for our ongoing projects in China.
We are also ready to take on further capacity for our China projects.
Two experienced designers have been transferred from Tokyo and Hong Kong office to handle work in
China alongside 3 younger designers.
We are excited about how we can contribute to a new lighting culture in China.
Learning from the pandemic
Covid-19 has forced us to tackle new challenges. Online communication has reduced the distance among
the teams and our colleagues around the world. It also taught us once again that face-to-face interaction
is still essential for our creative design work.
In the year of 2023, these lessons will continue to compel us to innovate the way we work.
Many complete and award-winning projects
Numerous projects were completed in 2022 as introduced in this report. Our Hong Kong team has
completed noteworthy projects, and LPA won various lighting design awards.
We will continue to be very diligent this year.
Increase in Lighting Detectives activity (no full-stop)
Although we were forced to cut back on our city night walks and fun drinking sessions afterwards due to
Covid-19, we have gradually resumed our outdoor activities over the last year. The foundation of
Tanteidan (the Detectives) is fieldwork, and in 2023 we are looking forward to regaining such activities.
Long-awaited Sumida River cherry blossom viewing party
It will be the fourth spring since we moved our Tokyo office along the Sumida River in Chuo-ku in February
2020. Our beautiful office is surrounded by cherry blossoms all around, and we can finally plan to
organize Hanami – cherry blossom viewing party.
