Virtual
FCP
Privilege Class: G
Use QUERY VIRTUAL FCP to display status of the Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP)
adapter devices accessible to your virtual machine.
For each FCP device dedicated to your virtual machine configuration, the following
is displayed:
FCP vdev ON DEV rdev UNIT unit CHPID chp SUBCHANNEL = vsub
vdev [QDIO-ELIGIBLE|QDIO PENDING ACTIVE|QDIO ACTIVE|QIOASSIST status]
If the subchannel for the FCP device is in either QDIO PENDING ACTIVE or QDIO
ACTIVE state, the following is displayed for each input and output data queue that
was established by a program running in a V=V virtual machine only:
vdev type sync priority IOCNT = nnnnnnnn ADP = nnn PROG = nnn UNAVAIL = nnn
vdev BYTES = nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
The terms shown in the above Results have the following meanings:
vdev
identifies the virtual device number of the FCP device.
rdev
identifies the real device number of the FCP device.
CHPID chp
identifies the real CHPID number of the FCP device.
SUBCHANNEL = vsub
identifies the virtual machine to which your CTCA is connected.
QUERY VIRTUAL FCP
QDIO-ELIGIBLE
indicates that the device is eligible to use the QDIO Hardware Facility for direct
data transfer.
QDIO PENDING ACTIVE
indicates that a program running in the virtual machine has established the
QDIO data queues for transferring data between the program and the specified
FCP device. Although the data queues are created, they must be activated by
the program running in the virtual machine before data transfer can commence.
QDIO ACTIVE
indicates that a program running in the virtual machine has activated the QDIO
data queues. Direct data transfer between the specified FCP device and the
program may now occur.
