Use SET ABEND to force soft errors to cause full system termination, or full system<br />

snapdumps.<br />

HARD<br />

specifies that any soft abend causes full system termination without attempting<br />

system recovery.<br />

HARD aaannn<br />

specifies the soft abend with abend code aaannn, where aaa is the three<br />

character module identifer <strong>and</strong> nnn is the three character abend code number,<br />

causes full system termination, but other soft abends continue to be processed<br />

normally.<br />

SNAPDUMP<br />

specifies that any soft abend causes a full system snapdump.<br />

SNAPDUMP aaannn<br />

specifies the soft abend with abend code aaannn causes a full system<br />

snapdump, but other soft abends continue to be processed normally.<br />

SET ABEND<br />

SOFT<br />

cancels all previous specifications of HARD, HARD aaannn, SNAPDUMP <strong>and</strong><br />

SNAPDUMP aaannn. All soft abends operate normally as established during<br />

system initialization.<br />

1. If any not valid abend code is encountered in the SET ABEND HARD aaannn<br />

aaannn... comm<strong>and</strong> or the SET ABEND SNAPDUMP aaannn aaannn...<br />

comm<strong>and</strong>, no soft abend settings are changed.<br />

2. You can specify up to ten unique soft abend codes with one or more invocations<br />

of the SET ABEND comm<strong>and</strong>. The codes are inspected for format validity—that<br />

is, three letters followed by three numbers. The nnn portion of the code is<br />

required to be less than or equal to decimal 255. The code is not inspected to<br />

determine whether it corresponds to a soft abend that is actually present in the<br />

system.<br />
