<strong>The</strong>y are tricky. Sometimes <strong>the</strong>y take us on a good path,<br />
sometimes on a bad one. Following our moods easily turns to our<br />
disadvantage. We should take superior states <strong>of</strong> mind ra<strong>the</strong>r than<br />
moods and emotions as our guide. Why not let <strong>the</strong> one <strong>the</strong>y call<br />
“Awakened” and “Blessed” lead us? Let “Buddha” walk in front<br />
<strong>of</strong> us. Let “Buddha” be <strong>the</strong> leading principle. Let “Buddha” be our<br />
guideline. Whatever we do, <strong>the</strong>re will always be moods, so we<br />
should see through <strong>the</strong>m by being in a state <strong>of</strong> awareness. In this<br />
way <strong>the</strong>re is no danger. <strong>The</strong>re are no drawbacks. We are on <strong>the</strong><br />
alert.<br />
Let <strong>the</strong> various moods and emotions that come up simply be as<br />
<strong>the</strong>y are. In this way we train to really be with ourselves. We train<br />
this very self to sit and really be <strong>the</strong>re, to stand and really be <strong>the</strong>re,<br />
to walk and really be <strong>the</strong>re, until at all times, in whatever<br />
changing posture, we can be called fully aware. We are fully <strong>the</strong>re<br />
by way <strong>of</strong> our peace. It’s different from being on top <strong>of</strong> our<br />
experience through getting carried away with pleasures and<br />
having fun. Instead, being fully present with life comes from<br />
peace <strong>of</strong> heart. If <strong>the</strong>re is peace, we are in a state where we can<br />
adjust to anything that comes up, so we will always respond<br />
appropriately. That people attain to Right View and Right<br />
Understanding is because <strong>the</strong> sankharas are quiet. <strong>The</strong>y don’t<br />
have mental proliferations. <strong>The</strong>refore <strong>the</strong>y experience peace. With<br />
all <strong>the</strong> kinds <strong>of</strong> opinions that could come up, <strong>the</strong>y won’t start<br />
arguing.<br />
When relating to <strong>the</strong> world and society, those who are<br />
intelligent, understanding and have a feeling <strong>of</strong> peacefulness will<br />
praise us. But if <strong>the</strong>y should praise us, we don’t get happy because<br />
<strong>of</strong> it. We don’t get infatuated with it. Ultimately, <strong>the</strong> praise <strong>of</strong><br />
