wealthy, with uncountable treasures,<br />

becomes ‘good’ in measure<br />

only when <strong>the</strong> monks do <strong>the</strong>ir duty,<br />

keeping <strong>the</strong> Vinaya pure.”<br />

We need to be aware <strong>of</strong> this. Vinaya means being orderly.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re wasn’t much rain last night and <strong>the</strong> sun has come out,<br />

so <strong>the</strong>se are very supportive conditions for drying <strong>the</strong> robes; <strong>the</strong>re<br />

shouldn’t be any problems. We can do our individual chores after<br />

robe washing. Everyone does what he can. Don’t forget our<br />

obligation to behave properly, and keep living in a way that<br />

doesn’t get carried away with fooling around. It is <strong>the</strong> fooling<br />

around that ties up all <strong>the</strong> beings in <strong>the</strong> world.<br />
