Palenque was a mid-sized settlement, smaller than<br />
Chichen Itza or Tikal. The site has 1,780 hectares<br />
with 1,400 documented buildings and less than<br />
10% of the city excavated.<br />
Palenque has a distinct sense of tranquility and it<br />
is great to arrive early and explore the jungle trails<br />
leading to waterfalls, plazas with courtyards and<br />
temples.<br />
Admission to a very nice exhibit at the INAH museum<br />
on the site is included in the entrance fee and is<br />
definitely worth a stop.<br />
Palenque era un asentamiento mediano, más<br />
pequeño que Chichen Itza o Tikal. El sitio cuenta<br />
con 1.780 hectáreas con 1.400 edificios documentados<br />
y menos del 10% de la ciudad excavada.<br />
Palenque tiene una sensación de tranquilidad y es<br />
genial llegar temprano y explorar los senderos de la<br />
selva que conducen a cascadas, plazas con patios y<br />
templos.<br />
La entrada a una exposición muy agradable en el<br />
museo INAH en el sitio está incluida en la tarifa de<br />
entrada y es sin duda vale la pena una parada.<br />
