A discovery made in 2015 by Mexican archaeologists<br />
revealed “a complex system of channels at various<br />
levels and with different orientations” beneath the<br />
temple of king Pakal.<br />
“Perhaps most interesting is that one channel<br />
approximately 17 m long still had circulating water<br />
at the moment it was discovered,” the archaeologist<br />
said.<br />
King Pakal was appointed as the king of Palenque by<br />
his mother, Queen Sak Kuk, at the age of 12 years<br />
old and reigned from 615 to 683 A.D.<br />
The Temple of Inscriptions, the most significant<br />
structure on the site, built by King Pakal’s first son,<br />
has an 80 foot vertical descent to Pakal’s burial<br />
chamber with stone carvings slab sealing his tomb.<br />

a varios niveles y con diferentes orientaciones”<br />
bajo el templo del rey Pakal.<br />
“Quizás lo más interesante es que un canal de<br />
aproximadamente 17 m de largo todavía tenía agua<br />
circulante en el momento en que fue descubierto”,<br />
dijo el arqueólogo.<br />
El rey Pakal fue nombrado rey de Palenque por su<br />
madre, la reina Sak Kuk, a la edad de 12 años y reinó<br />
de 615 a 683 A.D.<br />
El Templo de las Inscripciones, la estructura más<br />
importante del sitio, construido por el primer hijo del<br />
Rey Pakal, tiene un descenso vertical de 80 pies a<br />
la cámara de entierro de Pakal con techos de piedra<br />
sellando su tumba.<br />
