The Grijalva River that begins in Guatemala, flows<br />
through Chiapas, and the thirteen kilometers of the<br />
Sumidero canyon, then follows on to Tabasco and<br />
into the Usumacinta River. The steep, vertical walls<br />
of the canyon reach 1,000 meters at the highest<br />
point and expose an ancient process in the Earth’s<br />
crust formation that began over 35 million years ago.<br />
Árbol de Navidad, or Christmas Tree, waterfall is seasonal,<br />
with deep green “branches” made of mineral<br />
deposits and covered in soft moss.<br />
El río Grijalva que comienza en Guatemala, atraviesa<br />
Chiapas y los trece kilómetros del cañón del<br />
Sumidero, luego sigue hacia Tabasco y hacia el río<br />
Usumacinta. Las empinadas paredes verticales del<br />
cañón alcanzan 1000 metros en el punto más alto<br />
y exponen un proceso antiguo en la formación de<br />
la corteza terrestre que comenzó hace más de 35<br />
millones de años.<br />
La cascada Árbol de Navidad es estacional, con las<br />
“ramas” verdes profundas hechas de depósitos minerales<br />
y cubiertas en musgo suave.<br />
