Port Input/Output Commands HARDWARE-INPUT HARDWARE-OUPUT PORT-CHECK Reads byte from the hardware I/O port. Value: Portaddress, $state Default: None Appendix C: Automated Print Control Notes: The First argument is the port address. The second argument is the variable for storage of the return value. Writes byte to hardware I/O port Value: Portaddress, Data Default: None Returns the status of a communication port. Syntax: PORT-CHECK=port,$status, $inbytes, $outbytes, Notes: port is COMn or LPTn. $status specifies the status of transmission. $inbytes specifies the number of bytes in the receive buffer. $outbytes specifies the number of bytes in the transmit buffer. $JobsInQueue specifies the number of jobs in the printer manager queue for this port. PORT-CLOSE PORT-OPEN PORT-READ Closes an opened communication port. Syntax: PORT-CLOSE = port Notes: port is COMn or LPTn. Appendix C: Automated Print Control This command closes only the port opened by PORT-OPEN. Opens a communication port. Syntax: PORT-OPEN = port [, speed, parity, bytesize, stopbits] Notes: port specifies the device in the form of COMn (where n is 1-9), or LPTn, where n is 1-3. speed, parity, bytesize and stopbits are used to set up the port for COMn only. On a successful open, $ ERRORCODE is 0. On failure, $ ERRORCODE is 1. Reads bytes from a communication port. Syntax: PORT-READ = port, nbytes, $data Note: port is COMn or LPTn. nbytes specifies number of bytes to read. $data is the data read from the port.
