“Free” Steam<br />
In addition, there is the fringe benefit of exhaust steam at a rate equal to the<br />
evaporation in the dryer. This will be low-grade steam, but of a suitable quality<br />
for heating of process air or water – either by using heat exchangers, or by<br />
direct sparging.<br />
Environmentally Friendly<br />
Apart from the fired super-heater, there are no gaseous emissions from the Steam<br />
Spin Flash dryer. The exhaust vapor stream is fully condensed. Any organic<br />
compounds evaporated from the feed are recovered in the liquid phase.<br />
This simplifies environmental permitting issues, since any potential odor problems<br />
are eliminated.<br />
Inert Atmosphere<br />
In keeping with the other closed circuit configurations, the Steam Spin Flash dryer<br />
has no “Fire Risks” – a problem occasionally experienced with air drying of<br />
organic materials.<br />
