The itinerary below is for the June cruise.
The itinerary for the September cruise is identical, however it runs in reverse, and
instead of a port call in Yaroslavl there will be an extra free day in St. Petersburg.
departure. We depart for St.
Petersburg with Air Canada with a change
of planes in Frankfurt.
st. petersBurg / eMBarKation.
Upon arrival in St. Petersburg we transfer
to our cruise ship, MS Chekhov. Tonight
we enjoy our Welcome Aboard Cocktail
Reception & Dinner.
st. petersBurg. Created by Peter the
Great to rival Venice, St. Petersburg's
islands, canals, bridges and incredible
architecture make this the most beautiful
city in Russia. Dating from the beginning of
the 18th-century, it was built to the exact
specifications ordered by Peter the Great.
Our sightseeing tour of this beautiful city
shows you Nevsky Prospect, Palace
Square and Smolny Convent. We visit the
Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral of
Saints Peter and Paul with the tombs of the
imperial Romanov's beneath its 122 meter
spire. This evening an optional excursion
will be offered to attend a ballet
performance at the Hermitage Theatre.
st. petersBurg. This morning we
experience the many wonders of the
elegant Winter Palace, which today
houses the Hermitage Museum - one of
the largest art and cultural museums in the
world. From the 1760's onwards the
Winter Palace was the main residence of
the Russian Tsars. This Baroque-style
palace is perhaps St. Petersburg's most
impressive attraction. This evening our
cruise ship departs from St. Petersburg.
riVer ViLLage. This is a recreational
stop, specially designed to allow us to
enjoy the relaxing rustic atmosphere and
famous Russian cuisine and hospitality.
KiZhi isLand. We arrive in Kizhi Island,
renowned for its open-air Museum of
Architecture. The exhibit features building
styles from various areas of the country in
order to form a glimpse of Russia's past.

domes, is the ultimate in fairytale Russian
church architecture.
goritsY. Goritsy is a peaceful farming
town and a typical Russian village. Our
tour will include the Cyrilo-Belozersky
Monastery, which has six centuries of
glorious history and is home to the most
exquisite icon collection in the world.
YarosLaVL. Founded in 1010 by Prince
Yaroslav the Wise, the city stretches for
miles along the confluence of the Volga
and Kotorosl Rivers. Our included tour
shows us the Monastery of Our Saviour
and the Church of Elija the Prophet.
ugLich. Uglich was founded in 1148 and
it is here where you can admire some of
Russia's most beautiful churches and
cathedrals. The city tour will include the
Transfiguration Cathedral and the
magnificent Church of Dmitry on the Blood.
MoscoW. Our included sightseeing tour
shows us Red Square, St. Basil's
Cathedral, Tverskaya Street, Bolshoi
Theater, Lubyanka Square (KGB building)
and Moscow State University for a
panoramic view of the city. Tonight we
enjoy a performance by the famous
Moscow Circus.
MoscoW. This morning we will tour the
Kremlin - the heart of Moscow. Within the
Kremlin walls you will discover some of
Russia's most beautiful churches as well
as the world famous Armory. At the Armory
Museum, the country's oldest and richest
museum, see the wide collection of
treasures, including jewels, crowns and
the Tsar's royal armor. The famed Faberge
Eggs will also be on display. The
afternoon is at leisure to explore Moscow
on your own. Our local hosts can make all
arrangements for optional tours, theatre,
ballet or opera tickets. This evening is our
Farewell Dinner.
hoMe. We fly home to Canada via
Frankfurt.
