The itinerary below is for the June cruise.<br />

The itinerary for the September cruise is identical, however it runs in reverse, and<br />

instead of a port call in Yaroslavl there will be an extra free day in St. Petersburg.<br />

Petersburg with Air <strong>Canada</strong> with a change<br />

of planes in Frankfurt.<br />

st. petersBurg / eMBarKation.<br />

Upon arrival in St. Petersburg we transfer<br />

to our cruise ship, MS Chekhov. Tonight<br />

we enjoy our Welcome Aboard Cocktail<br />

Reception & Dinner.<br />

st. petersBurg. Created by Peter the<br />

Great to rival Venice, St. Petersburg's<br />

islands, canals, bridges and incredible<br />

architecture make this the most beautiful<br />

city in Russia. Dating from the beginning of<br />

the 18th-century, it was built to the exact<br />

specifications ordered by Peter the Great.<br />

Our sightseeing tour of this beautiful city<br />

shows you Nevsky Prospect, Palace<br />

Square and Smolny Convent. We visit the<br />

Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral of<br />

Saints Peter and Paul with the tombs of the<br />

imperial Romanov's beneath its 122 meter<br />

spire. This evening an optional excursion<br />

will be offered to attend a ballet<br />

performance at the Hermitage Theatre.<br />

st. petersBurg. This morning we<br />

experience the many wonders of the<br />

elegant Winter Palace, which today<br />

houses the Hermitage Museum - one of<br />

the largest art and cultural museums in the<br />

world. From the 1760's onwards the<br />

Winter Palace was the main residence of<br />

the Russian Tsars. This Baroque-style<br />

palace is perhaps St. Petersburg's most<br />

impressive attraction. This evening our<br />

cruise ship departs from St. Petersburg.<br />

riVer ViLLage. This is a recreational<br />

stop, specially designed to allow us to<br />

enjoy the relaxing rustic atmosphere and<br />

famous Russian cuisine and hospitality.<br />

KiZhi isLand. We arrive in Kizhi Island,<br />

renowned for its open-air Museum of<br />

Architecture. The exhibit features building<br />

styles from various areas of the country in<br />

order to form a glimpse of Russia's past.<br />

domes, is the ultimate in fairytale Russian<br />

church architecture.<br />

goritsY. Goritsy is a peaceful farming<br />

town and a typical Russian village. Our<br />

tour will include the Cyrilo-Belozersky<br />

Monastery, which has six centuries of<br />

glorious history and is home to the most<br />

exquisite icon collection in the world.<br />

YarosLaVL. Founded in 1010 by Prince<br />

Yaroslav the Wise, the city stretches for<br />

miles along the confluence of the Volga<br />

and Kotorosl Rivers. Our included tour<br />

shows us the Monastery of Our Saviour<br />

and the Church of Elija the Prophet.<br />

ugLich. Uglich was founded in 1148 and<br />

it is here where you can admire some of<br />

Russia's most beautiful churches and<br />

cathedrals. The city tour will include the<br />

Transfiguration Cathedral and the<br />

magnificent Church of Dmitry on the Blood.<br />

MoscoW. Our included sightseeing tour<br />

shows us Red Square, St. Basil's<br />

Cathedral, Tverskaya Street, Bolshoi<br />

Theater, Lubyanka Square (KGB building)<br />

and Moscow State University for a<br />

panoramic view of the city. Tonight we<br />

enjoy a performance by the famous<br />

Moscow Circus.<br />

MoscoW. This morning we will tour the<br />

Kremlin - the heart of Moscow. Within the<br />

Kremlin walls you will discover some of<br />

Russia's most beautiful churches as well<br />

as the world famous Armory. At the Armory<br />

Museum, the country's oldest and richest<br />

museum, see the wide collection of<br />

treasures, including jewels, crowns and<br />

the Tsar's royal armor. The famed Faberge<br />

Eggs will also be on display. The<br />

afternoon is at leisure to explore Moscow<br />

on your own. Our local hosts can make all<br />

arrangements for optional tours, theatre,<br />

ballet or opera tickets. This evening is our<br />

Farewell Dinner.<br />

hoMe. We fly home to <strong>Canada</strong> via<br />

Frankfurt.<br />
