or those who enjoy French culture, history
and magnificent scenery, France’s beloved
regions of Normandy and Brittany are not to be
missed. On this journey we will discover the
fascinating heritage left here by the Norse and
the Celts, as we visit charming small villages
and historic towns with impressive architecture
and world-renowned monuments. Throughout
the tour we will enjoy magnificent landscapes,
including the lush pastoral countryside of
Normandy, the impressive cliffs and elegant
towns along the English Channel, the typical
fishing villages and unspoiled rugged coastline
of Brittany and even some of the breathtaking
scenery of the Loire Valley. Best of all, we will
experience the renowned Norman and Breton
hospitality, their unique culture and the flavourful
cuisine inspired by both land and the sea.
Upon arrival in France we will visit the country
house and beautiful gardens of Claude Monet,
before proceeding to our first overnight in the
historic town of Rouen - whose town center has
pedestrian streets, many timber-framed houses
and a fine Gothic Cathedral. We will travel along
the Alabaster Coast, whose coves, white cliffs
and charming old ports were immortalized by
the impressionist painters. Discover the once
Norse speaking town of Bayeux, once the cradle
of the Dukes of Normandy and home of William
the Conqueror of England. We will also see the
D-Day landing beaches of Juno where the
Canadian soldiers reached shore and Gold in
Arromanches with its museum and artificial port
- a British technological feat. Finally, discover
the lively resort towns along the Côte-Fleurie
including Trouville - our home base for 3 nights.
Our sightseeing in Brittany includes famous
Mont St-Michel with its splendid Abbey offering
marvellous views. A 2-night stay in charming St-
Malo will allow us time to enjoy its unique
character, architecture and beaches. We visit
Dinan - one of the best preserved small towns in
Brittany, as well as the natural harbour of

Ploumanac’h. Enjoy a 3-night stay in Brittany’s
folk art centre, Quimper, our base for exploring
the coast with its spectacular scenery of jagged
cliffs and exquisite old villages, along with the
awesome site of Carnac with its thousands of
Dolmens.
We finish the tour in Nantes, former capital of
Brittany, with its impressive castle, medieval
quarter and fine shopping district.

Europe must be able to walk fairly long distances
and climb stairs easily.
