<strong>TenTATive</strong> <strong>iTinerArY</strong> <strong>FOr</strong> crOATiA & SlOveniA<br />

departure. We depart for Venice with<br />

a change of planes in London.<br />

Venice. Upon arrival in Venice we transfer<br />

to our hotel. The afternoon is at leisure until<br />

our Welcome Dinner this evening.<br />

Venice. Our guided tour of this magical<br />

city will show us St. Mark’s Square, the<br />

Bridge of Sighs, the Doge’s Palace and<br />

more. In the afternoon we will enjoy some<br />

time at leisure to explore or perhaps visit<br />

one of the many famous glass factories.<br />

postoJna caVes / LJuBLJana<br />

(sLoVenia). We travel by coach and<br />

enter Slovenia, where our first stop will be<br />

Postojna to visit the incredible Karst cave<br />

system. A mini-train takes us through this<br />

fantastic underground world of beautiful<br />

stalactites and stalagmites. We continue<br />

to Slovenia’s medieval capital, Ljubljana.<br />

LJuBJana. Our morning city tour will<br />

include a funicular ride to Ljubljana castle<br />

for a panoramic view of the old town and<br />

red-roofed houses. The afternoon is at<br />

leisure to stroll the old town with its small<br />

shops, outdoor cafes and charming<br />

restaurants.<br />

LaKe BLed / LJuBJana. Today’s tour<br />

at emerald-green Lake Bled includes a<br />

visit of Bled Castle, which stands on a cliff<br />

above the lake with spectacular views,<br />

and a “pletna" boat ride to the island<br />

where you can ring the bell at St. Mary’s<br />

Church for good luck.<br />

ZagreB (croatia). We enter Croatia<br />

and proceed to the capital city of Zageb.<br />

ZagreB. Our city tour will include a<br />

funicular ride to the Upper Town where a<br />

complex of churches, palaces, museums,<br />

government buildings and galleries has<br />

retained much of its old-world charm and<br />

graciousness.<br />

pLitVice LaKes / Zadar. We depart<br />

for Plitvice Lakes National Park, a lush<br />

valley with 16 terraced lakes strung<br />

together by countless cascading<br />

waterfalls and miles of pleasant paths and<br />

wooden bridges. Our visit here will include<br />

a boat ride on the still waters of Kozjak<br />

Lake and an electric train around the park.<br />

tour shows us the harbour, the historical<br />

center, the Romanic marks and the pre-<br />

Romanic church Saint Donat.<br />

siBeniK / trogir / spLit. We begin<br />

with a morning tour of Sibenik’s charming<br />

old town, the pictorial alleys and the<br />

famous cathedral of St. Jakova. We then<br />

travel to the UNESCO Heritage Site of<br />

Trogir Island, a Croatian artistic center.<br />

Scholars from all over the world gather to<br />

study and paint here, and you will see that<br />

this is with good reason. We continue to<br />

Split for our tour featuring the historic<br />

inner city - the biggest in Dalmatia, built<br />

around the Roman Emperor Diocletian‘s<br />

Palace. We see the remnants of Split’s<br />

Roman heritage, its Renaissance and<br />

Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple and<br />

the Peristyle.<br />

Mostar. A scenic drive takes us to<br />

Mostar for a guided city tour of this<br />

beautiful old town, the famous old bridge<br />

and the Turkish section, including a visit of<br />

a Turkish home and the Mosque.<br />

duBroVniK. We travel to Dubrovnik, a<br />

UNESCO World Heritage Site and certainly<br />

one of the most beautiful cities of Europe.<br />

After arrival our city tour shows us the city<br />

walls and fortifications, set-piece churches<br />

and public buildings that blend seamlessly<br />

with green-shuttered stone houses, the<br />

Rector’s Palace and Europe’s oldest<br />

apothecary in the Franciscan Monastery.<br />

eLaphiti isLands / KonaVLe /<br />

duBroVniK. We take a picturesque boat<br />

trip along the coast to the Elafiti Islands.<br />

These small islands are covered by pine<br />

woods and boast impressive steep chalk<br />

cliffs. Later we travel by coach to the region<br />

of Konavle with a stop at the little mountain<br />

village of Gruda to see the mills and enjoy<br />

a tasting of local ham, cheese and grappa.<br />

duBroVniK. A free day to stroll the old<br />

city or take a local boat ride along the<br />

coast. An optional tour will be offered to<br />

Montenegro for those interested. Tonight<br />

is our Farewell Dinner.<br />

London. We fly to London and upon<br />

arrival transfer to our hotel for an overnight.<br />

hoMe. We fly home with British Airways.<br />
