departure / anchorage. We depart for
Anchorage, Alaska with a change of planes in
Vancouver. Upon arrival we transfer to our
ship, the Sapphire Princess. This evening
we enjoy our first delicious dinner onboard.
huBBard gLacier (scenic cruising).
Hubbard Glacier is the longest tidewater
glacier in Alaska, extending 76 miles from its
source on Mt. Logan in the Yukon. You will
hear the creaks and groans as this very
active glacier advances. There will be
exciting moments when the huge chunks of
ice crash into the bay creating a wonderful
sound the local natives call "white thunder".
gLacier BaY nationaL parK (scenic
cruising). Today is a highlight of our cruise.
Under a blanket of silence we gaze upon the
ice cliffs and their colours of blue, green,
white and grey. We look and listen for the
massive slabs of ice to crash in to the water.
Be sure to be out on deck to watch for whales
and seals.
sKagWaY. Enjoy the Gold Rush
atmosphere of Skagway, home base for the
stampeders whose dreams led them to the
Yukon. Explore the historic district on foot or
by streetcar. Consider going on one of the
optional tours, like the Skagway
Extravaganza which includes panning for
gold and the rousing Soapy Smith Show, or a
visit to The Klondike National Historical Park
which commemorates the place where the
prospectors first arrived, gathered their

Route to find fortune in the gold fields. You
can follow their lead aboard the vintage
White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad (highly
recommended) or browse the shops and
saloons in town.
Juneau. Step back in time to the spot
where Joe Juneau and Dick Harris found
"streaks running through the rocks and little
lumps as large as peas or beans." See relics
of the gold mines that brought wealth to the
town even before the Klondike gold rush. An
optional excursion will be offered to see the
amazing Mendenhall Glacier.
KetchiKan. Southeast Alaska's "first city"
is as picturesque as they come. Ketchikan is
built on pilings out over the water. Stroll
down historic Creek Street to Dolly's House,
or venture outside town to see a forest of
hand-carved totem poles. This is also your
gateway to Misty Fjords National Monument
via floatplane.
at sea. At this point a day at sea will be
most welcome.
VancouVer, Bc. This morning we
disembark our ship in Vancouver and
proceed on a tour of this beautiful city,
including Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown
and more. Dinner and overnight in a centrally
located hotel.
hoMe. After breakfast we transfer to the
Vancouver airport for our flight home.
