departure. We depart for Manchester, a
direct flight from Toronto.
YorK. We arrive and transfer by coach to
York, our home for the next 7 nights. Tonight
is our Welcome Dinner.
YorK. Our city tour will show us all the
famous sights, including a visit to the Minster,
a walk along the famous walls and a stroll
along the Shambles. You will have free time
in the afternoon to further explore, shop or
simply enjoy some time at one of the pubs,
parks or cafes. Tonight we dine at a local pub.
herriot countrY. We travel to Thirsk,
home town of Alf Wight, upon whose life the
TV series "All Creatures Great & Small" was
based. This traditional Yorkshire market town
has a cobble-stoned square and old
coaching inns. We enjoy a pub lunch in town,
and then visit Fountains Abbey. Set in a
beautiful tranquil valley, it is the largest of all
the ruined abbeys in England, with one of the
most spectacular Georgian water gardens.
Bronte countrY. We drive through the
countryside to Haworth. This stone village
with its cobble-stoned main street has
changed little since the days of the Bronte
sisters. We see the village and surroundings
that inspired Emily's "Wuthering Heights" and
Charlotte’s "Jane Eyre", and visit the awardwinning
Bronte Parsonage Museum. We then
board the Keighly & Worth Valley Rail, made
famous by the “Railway Children”. This rail
line has operated since 1867 and the journey
is a powerful reminder of England’s industrial
heritage, as well as a unique way of enjoy the
beautiful countryside.
YorK at Leisure. A day at leisure. Your
Tour Manager will offer suggestions. After
dinner we will be entertained by local talent.
castLe hoWard. We visit the 17th
century Castle Howard - a "must see" in
northern England. With its marriage of art,
landscaping and natural beauty it is one of
Britain's most extraordinary architectural
gems. Later we step back in time at the
award-winning Ryedale Open Air Museum
and learn about the rich heritage, culture and
lifestyle of this region in centuries past. Our
dinner will be at a family owned inn in the
Yorkshire Moors where we will enjoy
deliciously prepared farm fresh food.

YorKshire Moors & WhitBY. This
morning we drive into the Yorkshire Moors,
an area of breathtaking scenery, vast open
moorland, hidden valleys and dramatic sea
cliffs. We visit the small village of Goathland,
made famous by the series ‘Heartbeat’. Then
we explore Whitby, a seaside fishing port and
popular tourist destination. This is a lovely
town for strolling or people watching at the
dockside cafes.
stratford-upon-aVon. We travel into
the District of Derby, one of the country’s best
loved National Parks. Dotted with historic
sites and pretty villages it also has some of
England’s most wild and beautiful scenery.
Later we arrive at our hotel, centrally located
in the town of Stratford-upon-Avon, our home
for the next 6 nights.
stratford-upon-aVon. We enjoy a tour
of this delightful town with its timbered
houses mostly unchanged from Tudor times.
Included is a visit of Anne Hathaway’s
cottage and a leisurely cruise along the Avon
River.
coVentrY / WarWicK castLe. We
spend our day in Warwickshire, nestled deep
in the heart of England. Our first visit is
Coventry Cathedral, one of the most inspiring
cathedrals in Britain. We will tour both the
ruins of the old cathedral and the New
Cathedral. The afternoon is spent at “Britain’s
ultimate castle”, Warwick.
cotsWoLds. The Cotswolds are home to
some of the most unspoiled, historic and
famous towns and villages in England. On
our excursion today we will discover some of
them with time to explore on our own. Tonight
we dine in a 17th century Inn located in the
heart of the Cotswolds
oxford. Britain’s oldest seat of learning is
beautiful with its elegant spires and honey
coloured buildings. A local guide will take us
on a walking tour to one of the colleges,
giving insight into the courtyards and
chapels.
stratford. A day at leisure. Enjoy
strolling and shopping in town or join an
optional excursion offered by your Tour
Manager.
hoMe. We transfer to London and fly home.
