destinations. On this tour we will enjoy all of
this and more. We will see the beautifully
preserved Roman and medieval towns;
scenery from the Mediterranean coast up to
the summit of Mont Ventoux and typical
Provencal markets with endless stalls of
fresh food, lavender and local handicrafts
as well as the delicious local specialties
and wines - a feast for the senses!
Our home base will be in lovely Avignon,
located in the very heart of Provence. This
beautiful city has magnificent 18th/19th
century private town houses, shaded
squares, narrow streets named after
ancient trades ("Bonnetterie”, “Teinturier”,
“Infirmière”, etc"), gardens along the Rhône
River, a weekly and a daily food market,
old-world boutiques and many museums.
Avignon is not only a very charming town
but also a lively art and cultural center. The
city boasts an excellent transportation
system with regular routes to surrounding
towns and villages enabling the traveller to
easily explore the region.
We will stay at the Mercure Pont d’Avignon,
a perfectly situated 4-star hotel located
within the old city walls in a pleasant quiet
area - an easy walk from restaurants,
shopping streets and main attractions.
Hotel facilities include a bar, small lounge /
