n this exciting holiday we take in two of
the world's most beautiful and historic
countries.
Turkey has been the dividing line between
Europe and Asia since the dawn of time,
and is a land of many contrasts. It offers
everything from sandy beaches, to
breathtaking scenery, to fascinating
historical and religious sites. We begin our
holiday in the exotic and enticing city of
Istanbul, formerly known as Constantinople,
the only city in the world to bridge two
continents. Highlights of our touring in
Turkey will include the world's best
preserved ancient city (Ephesus), the
thermal springs and extraordinary rock
formations of Pamukkale, the lovely Aegean
Coast resort town of Canakkale (the ancient
site of Troy) and the modern, yet traditional
city of Izmir.
After our tour of Turkey we board our ship in
Kusadasi for 3 relaxing days of cruising
amid the scenic beauty of the Greek Islands.
Ports of call include Patmos, Rhodes,
Santorini and Crete. All touring during the
cruise will be offered as optional.
We disembark in Athens and commence our
touring in Greece. Included will be a 4-day
Classical Coach Tour through the
mountains, including 2 nights in Meteora,
known for bizarre rock pillars and its series
of impregnable Byzantine monasteries. We
also visit Delphi, once known as the centre
of the earth, before returning to Athens.
*** Those participating in any of our
European tours must be able to walk fairly
long distances and climb stairs easily.
