REVENUE GREW 14% AND OPERATING INCOME 17.1% AT CURRENT EXCHANGE RATES: Veolia Environnement’s
Revenue grew 14.0% at current exchange rates and 14.9% at constant exchange rates, with 7.8% internal growth (including 10.1%
outside France) and 7.1% external growth.
External growth mainly resulted from a number of acquisitions. Veolia Environmental Services acquired Cleanaway UK, the
No. 3 British waste management company, in 2006; Sulo, the No. 2 waste treatment company in Germany, on July 2, 2007; and
TMT in Italy, the largest private operator in the thermal waste treatment market, on October 3, 2007. Veolia Energy made
acquisitions in Central and Eastern Europe and Australia (smaller companies). Veolia Transport made acquisitions in France (SNCM
in 2006) and the United States (SuperShuttle in 2006, one of the world leaders in transportation-on-demand services for airports).
In the United Kingdom, Veolia Water acquired some of the unregulated business activities of Thames Water on November 28, 2007.
And Veolia Energy acquired TNAI, the largest portfolio of district heating and cooling networks in the United States, in December
2007, the initial eff ects of which on revenue and income will appear in 2008. These transactions, targeted on Veolia
Environnement’s core business and set to generate synergies and cut costs, have enabled the company to extend its range of
business lines in countries where until now it operated only some of its activities. Accordingly, Veolia Environnement accelerated its
growth outside France, with €18.4 billion in revenue, which covered 56.3% of its total business versus 53.2% at December 31, 2006.
All divisions contributed to the company’s growth. The Water business grew 8.3% (including 7.9% internal growth), Waste
Management 23.5% (7.5%), Energy Services 12.7% (7.9%) and Transportation 12.9% (8.1%). Such signifi cant increases constantly
bolster the vision of a company that is a benchmark in environmental services.
All the company’s priority operating regions contributed to the growth in business: France (6.4%), Europe excluding France
(22.6% at constant exchange rates), North America (7.6% at constant exchange rates), Asia-Pacifi c (34.8% at constant exchange
