<strong>of</strong>fending, as shall seem good to them, at all times after the said period <strong>of</strong> six<br />

months, before that the said Sir William Alexander and his heirs and assigns, our<br />

Lieutenants for the time being and their deputies, shall have called to judgment<br />

before them, cited or arraigned, the said persons criminally <strong>of</strong>fending, and they<br />

are to appear before their court <strong>of</strong> judicature wherever they may be for the time<br />

in the said region <strong>of</strong> Nova Scotia, <strong>with</strong>out prejudice, however, to the said Sir<br />

William Alexander and his heirs and assigns, being our Lieutenants, and their<br />

deputies, provided that they<br />

shall have been the first to serve the citation after<br />

expiration <strong>of</strong> the said period. <strong>of</strong> six months, <strong>of</strong> sitting, adjudging, taking cognizance<br />

<strong>of</strong>, punishing or remitting the said crimes and persons criminally <strong>of</strong>fending,<br />

according to their good pleasure as is aforesaid : And in like manner We, by the<br />

honour <strong>of</strong> our present charter, do ordain that if it shall have happened that the<br />

said Sir Thomas Burnet and his [heirs male and assigns] aforesaid have condoned<br />

and remitted any crimes or any criminal <strong>of</strong>fenders as is aforesaid, that in that case<br />

their remission and letter <strong>of</strong> forgiveness thus to be to them granted shall be<br />

published <strong>with</strong>in the said boundaries on the same day and date <strong>of</strong> the grant<br />

there<strong>of</strong> by certain ones their own particular <strong>of</strong>ficials to be appointed to this effect :<br />

And after publication there<strong>of</strong>, that the same remission shall be registered in the<br />

register <strong>of</strong> the said Sir William or his heirs and assigns, our Lieutenants in the<br />

said region for the time being, <strong>with</strong>in the space <strong>of</strong> sixty days after publication<br />

there<strong>of</strong>, provided that the same shall be tendered and presented before two trustworthy<br />

witnesses to the keeper <strong>of</strong> the said register, if the clerk or keeper <strong>of</strong> the<br />

same registry for the time being shall have been in the said region <strong>of</strong> Nova Scotia :<br />

With plenary power and privilege in like manner to the said Sir Thomas Burnet<br />

and his heirs male, assigns and deputies for ever, <strong>of</strong> sitting, affirming, holding and<br />

causing to be held in their names, courts <strong>of</strong> Justiciary, Sheriffdom, free regality,<br />

barons and burghs <strong>with</strong>in and upon all the said boundaries and lands above<br />

described, or upon any part there<strong>of</strong>, at all times and occasions as shall appear to<br />

themselves to be expedient; <strong>of</strong> making and creating clerks, <strong>of</strong>ficials, Serjeants,<br />

adjudicators and all other members <strong>of</strong> the court whomsoever; <strong>of</strong> ordaining,<br />

exacting, levying and receiving penalties, fines and amercements <strong>of</strong> court, and <strong>of</strong><br />

applying the same to their own proper uses, as shall appear to them expedient ;<br />

With all and singular other the privileges, liberties, advantages and casualties<br />

belonging or able to belong to the said <strong>of</strong>fices and jurisdictions <strong>of</strong> free regality,<br />

Sheriffdom and other things abovementioned ; With full power also and privilege<br />

to the said Sir Thomas Burnet, his heirs male and assigns, <strong>of</strong> selling, alienating<br />

and disposing hereditarily or otherwise all and singular the aforesaid boundaries<br />

and lands abovementioned at their will and pleasure, <strong>with</strong> all and singular the<br />

privileges, liberties, advantages<br />

and immunities hereinbefore and hereinafter<br />
