successors and assigns] beforementioned, or to any other <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> us or <strong>of</strong> our<br />

successors whomsoever, to exact, demand or levy any whatever taxes or imposts<br />

from the said Sir Thomas Burnet and his heirs male, assigns, deputies, men,<br />

tenants, servants, or inhabitants <strong>of</strong> the said lands and boundaries particularly<br />

above set forth, or from the lands, rents or goods in any way appertaining or<br />

belonging to any <strong>of</strong> them, <strong>with</strong>out the consent <strong>of</strong> the said Sir Thomas and his<br />

heirs male and assigns, Not<strong>with</strong>standing any power formerly granted to the said<br />

our Lieutenant and his [heirs, successors and assigns] aforesaid by virtue <strong>of</strong> his<br />

original enfe<strong>of</strong>ment abovementioned, or <strong>of</strong> any other title or right whatever made<br />

and granted, or hereafter to be made and granted by us or our heirs or successors<br />

to the said our Lieutenant or to any other person whomsoever, <strong>with</strong>out prejudice<br />

in any way whatever to the said Sir Thomas Burnet and his heirs male and<br />

assigns and deputies <strong>with</strong>in their own particular boundaries hereinbefore pointed<br />

out and apportioned to them by the tenour <strong>of</strong> this our present charter, to call,<br />

call together and assemble their men, tenants, servants and inhabitants at all<br />

times and on all occasions in the manner and for the objects contained in the<br />

especial paragraph hereinbefore mentioned : And, moreover, we have given,<br />

granted and disponed, and by the tenour <strong>of</strong> our present charter, for ourselves and<br />

our successors, <strong>with</strong> the advice and consent aforesaid, do give, grant and for ever<br />

hereditarily dispone to the said Sir Thomas Burnet, his heirs male and assigns, all<br />

and every other privileges, advantages, benefits, pr<strong>of</strong>its, easements, prerogatives,<br />

dignities and casual ities, as well in general as in particular, <strong>with</strong>in the aforesaid<br />

original deed <strong>of</strong> enfe<strong>of</strong>ment to the said Sir William Alexander mentioned and<br />

expressed, And this in as full, free and ample a form and manner as if the same<br />

privilege and prerogatives, advantages, dignities, liberties, benefits and other<br />

things therein contained, <strong>with</strong> all clauses and conditions there<strong>of</strong>, were inserted in<br />

this our present charter as if they had been particularly expressed and contained<br />

in the same, in so far only as they can apply to be extended to the said particular<br />

boundaries and lands hereinbefore pointed out and disponed by the tenour <strong>of</strong> this<br />

our present charter to the said Sir Thomas Burnet, his heirs male and assigns, as<br />

hereditary proprietors <strong>of</strong> the same : Except, however, and reserved to the said Sir<br />

William Alexander and his heirs and assigns, Lieutenant <strong>of</strong> the whole <strong>of</strong> the said<br />

region and dominion <strong>of</strong> Nova Scotia, the privilege and power <strong>of</strong> striking money,<br />

and the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> principal Justiciary general <strong>of</strong> the said region in criminal causes,<br />

the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Admiralty, the creation <strong>of</strong> Officers <strong>of</strong> State, and the conferring <strong>of</strong><br />

titles and honours, With plenary power and jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> free regality <strong>of</strong> the<br />

chapel and chancery <strong>of</strong> the said region, and privilege <strong>of</strong> constituting<br />

laws con-<br />

cerning the public, state and government <strong>of</strong> the same region granted to them by<br />

the said their original enfe<strong>of</strong>ment; Provided that the same reservation and
