and for their better support, I, the said Sir Thomas Burnet <strong>of</strong> Leyis, binds and<br />

obledges me and my forsaidis, to giue to euery on <strong>of</strong> the saids poore folkes<br />

yeerly (being depauperat and wanting meanes to Hue, and being old indwellers in<br />

the said Parochen <strong>of</strong> Banchory, at the least for the space <strong>of</strong> seaven yeers, and<br />

being <strong>of</strong> honest reputation and good fame, and louers <strong>of</strong> the trueth, and <strong>of</strong><br />

Christian behauiour) as followes, viz. : Ane boll meill yeerly to every one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

three which befor gott the cloathes, and that together <strong>with</strong> the saidis cloathes,<br />

and to the other nyne that gott the meall befor, nyne suites <strong>of</strong> cloathes, together<br />

also <strong>with</strong> ther saids nyne bolls meall, and, moreover, to every one <strong>of</strong> said twelve<br />

poor eight, four pounds Scots money yearlie to help them to buy shoes or other<br />

necessares, or half boll meall foresaid yearlie to every one <strong>of</strong> them instead <strong>of</strong> the<br />

saids four pounds, because moneyis cannot alwayes be readily gotten, and all to<br />

be payd out <strong>of</strong> the garner <strong>of</strong> Leyis, and be the laird <strong>of</strong> Leyis for the tyme,
