Concepts/Content There are many kinds <strong>of</strong> animals. They all move in different ways, eat different foods, have different needs, look<br />

different, take care <strong>of</strong> their babies in different ways, and need us to help take care <strong>of</strong> them sometimes.<br />

Data analysis, sequence/comprehension <strong>of</strong> concepts first, next, last.<br />

Experiences Children will discuss at group time various animals visiting the classroom and pets they may have at home.<br />

Children will observe and discuss the characteristics <strong>of</strong> the animals in the classroom and at home.<br />

Children will learn how to take care <strong>of</strong> the needs <strong>of</strong> the animals in the classroom.<br />

Children will listen to fiction and nonfiction stories about animals; discuss the text; and share thoughts and<br />

opinions.<br />

Children will develop with the teacher a list <strong>of</strong> what they know about a specific animal and what they want to<br />

know.<br />

Children will brainstorm ways <strong>of</strong> learning more about animals.<br />
