AP PLI CA TION
The har moni za tion docu ment HD 516 (Guide to use of
low- voltage har mo nized ca bles) pro vides a guide to
the pro posed safe use of har mo nized elec tric ca bles
ac cord ing to HD 21.
Ca bles should be se lected so that they are suit able for
the op er at ing con di tions.

- over cur rent
- pro tec tive meas ures
- group ing of ca bles
- method of in stal la tion
- ac ces si bil ity
Ca bles should be se lected so that they are suit able for any
ex ter nal in flu ences which may ex ist.
Ex am ples of ex ter nal in flu ences are:
- am bi ent tem pera ture; mini mum and maxi mum
- pre cence of rain, steam or ac cu mu la tion of wa ter
- pre cense of cor ro sive, chemi cal or pol lut ing
sub stances
- me chani cal stresses (im pact, ten sion, com pres sion,
sharp edges)
- fauna (such as ro dents)
- flora (such as mould)
- ra dia tion (such as sun light)
LI NYL
Plastic- insulated con duc tors, ML, MK, MKEM and
plastic- sheated ca bles MMJ as well as plastic- sheated
con trol ca bles MMO are coated with the Li nyl plas tic
com pound. The Li nyl con pound makes the ca ble very slick
and nearly fric tion less, and thus re quires only
one- fifth of the pull ing force of an or di nary ca ble when
drawn in ducts. As a re sult of this “fric tion less ness”,
it is no longer nec es sary to use lu bri cants, which can be
det ri men tal to plas tics. In stal la tion is eas ier, faster, lighter
and con sid era bly more eco nomi cal and re li able.

The ca bles in the cata logue are manu fac tured
ac cord ing to valid Fin nish SFS stan dards or
in ter na tional CENE LEC stan dards.
The in de pend ent and con trolled qual ity la bels,
the sym bol and the pan- European sym bol,
in di cate that the ca bles have been tested and cer ti fied.
