BRIDGING GROWTH<br />
The increase of the church membership through the process by which new churches are<br />
planted in cultures different from the culture of the base church; represented iin two degrees:<br />
first degree (designated as E-2 evangelism)--in cultures somewhat different fromthe base church;<br />
second degree (designated as E-3 evangelism)--in cultures greatly different from the base church.<br />
Cross-cultural church planting.<br />
CARRIERS OF REVIVAL<br />
The phrase "carriers of revival" has been coined to describe the means by which the spirit<br />
of revival may be transfered from one place to another. There appear to be at leaset three types<br />
of carriers may be identified and utilized to create a desire for revival. These include (CR-1)<br />
individuals who have themselves experienced revival, (CR-2) authentic accounts of revival<br />
experiences, and (CR-3) anointed literature which uniquely motivates others to begin working<br />
toward revival.<br />
CELEBRATION<br />
The gathering of the church collective in its primary function of worship and praise to<br />
God; the sum total of worshipers represents the whole church family. Also used to describe the<br />
quality of contemporary worship in contrast to other worship styles.<br />
CELL<br />
The foundational unit of a church's infrastructure, sometimes called a kinship circle. A<br />
cell is a small group of 8-12 believers functioning in a manner to establish spiritual<br />
accountability and provide intimacy in fellowship. Most generic cells have a secondary function<br />
such as Bible study, prayer, training, etc. A technical cell usually meets outside the church<br />
building and not on Sunday to carry out its task of ministry.<br />
CHURCH<br />
An assembly of professed believers, in whom Christ dwells, under the discipline of the<br />
Word of God, organized to carry out the Great Commission, administer the ordinances, and<br />
minister with spiritual gifts.<br />
CHURCH GROWTH, TYPES OF:<br />
1. Internal - growth of Christians in grace, relationship to God, and to one another.<br />
2. Expansion - growth of the local congregation by the evangelization of non-<br />
Christians within its ministry area.<br />
3. Extension - growth of the church by the establishment of daughter churches<br />
within the same general homogeneous group.
